Furniture with a Point of View

At Pryor & Peacock we believe homes should reflect the personality and wit of the people who live there. Neutral doesn't interest us. You’re not bland and colorless so why should your home be?

Here’s a promise: our furniture will start conversations.

Luxury the Planet Can Afford

Saving Precious Water

Traditional textile production is estimated to create 20% or more of the world’s industrial water pollution and consume an estimated 279 billion cubic feet of fresh water every year.

All of our original fabrics are produced using modern digital technology. Digitally printed fabric saves billions of gallons of water worldwide compared to compared to textile mills that require voluminous amounts of water. A study conducted by FESPA, a global federation of 37 national print associations found that compared to traditional rotary screen-printing, digital printing provides a water saving of 600%.  And at the end of a traditional printing run, screens must emptied of surplus water and the ink discarded, polluting our waterways.

Digital printing and the pigment ink required produce no wastewater.

Reducing Landfill

The carbon footprint of antique and vintage furniture is 16 times less than

that of newly manufactured pieces.

In 1960, Americans threw away 2.2 million tons of furniture. Today that

number exceeds 12 million tons, a 450% increase. Contemporary furniture

breaks, chips, and often so cheap it is more economical to replace than

repair. That discarded furniture makes up over 5% of America’s landfills.

Pryor & Peacock furniture was created from the 19th century through the mid-20th century. These pieces were produced from old-growth wood, trees that were allowed to grow

slowly over time, producing a wood with great strength and longevity. Our furniture has both a past and a future.

Protecting Wildlife

The number of animals slaughtered each year for the leather trade is estimated to be over a billion worldwide, and another 100 million animals are killed for their fur.

Pryor & Peacock does not use fur, down, or the skin of any animal. If a piece calls for a leather look, we source vegan faux leather. Our exclusive use of vintage and antique furniture also reflects our commitment slowing the destruction of natural habitats so critical to preserving the diverse life of our planet. The deforestation of immature forests driven by the appetite for contemporary furniture not only accelerates global warming, it poses an

immediate and disastrous threat to threat to wildlife habitats.

Our Commitment to Helping

Two percent of our sales this year will be allocated among three charities: The Natural

Resources Defense Council for protection of the environment; The World Wildlife Fund for protection of animals; and Water.org for protection of access to safe water for the world’s people. At the end of the year, these charities will rotate to other organizations working to help the earth and its inhabitants. Please email us if you wish to nominate a charity to be considered for next year. We would love to hear from you.
